How do I get a crisp, straight paint line with masking tape?
Apply tape to a clean, dry surface and press the edge down firmly with a fingernail or filling knife so paint can't creep underneath. Paint over the edge, not into it. When should I remove masking tape?
Peel it off while the last coat is still slightly wet, pulling it back on itself at a low angle. If the paint has dried, run a sharp blade along the edge first so you don't lift the paint with the tape. Don't leave tape on longer than you need to.
